Styrofoam animal head

Originally my idea was to go with a lizard being taken by an eagle and have on,y the Eagles talons show but then I decided to go with something else. A horned owl.
So here's the first sketch with most of the measuring done.

Here are all three sketches and now I'm starting on clay and hopefully it'll go well.

So my final product I'm very proud of. It was the most challenging and frustrating piece I've done but it was also very beneficial and satisfying. I hope to continue my learning with the arts

Fabric plaster of Paris

So with this piece I got my ideas from a cave I had went to in New Mexico, Mr. Wertz had mentioned stalagmites and stalactites last week and that's when I thought of doing a model sort of the Carlsbad caverns.
In between each arch there are gonna be stalagmites and stalactites made of wire and athe base will be cardboard
There are gonna be seperate arches and none of them are goi to touch
All of the pieces will be covered in plaster and probably stained or painted

Two of four arches

All four arches have been created and taped to make them sturdier and I started to plaster them yesterday during flex. I have half of one left then I'm going to put another layer or two of plaster too make them thicker and harder because of the weight of the stalagmites and stalactites.
To keep the arches up I decided to use wire and sort of stitch it through the arch and then back into the base.
First arch is up but leans back a little bit so I'm goi to try to use modeling paste to prop it up a little.
All four arches are attached and I'm just waiting for the modeling plaster to dry.

Plaster mold

So my idea for this is a candle holder. On the inside of this annoying clay mood there are little divots that are kinda circular for the plaster to fill and hopefully will give a cool look to. Once the plaster is dry I'm going to remove it from the clay and carve into it and create holes on the outside for the light to shine through. But the top of the mold will still be plaster where you can put a scented wax pallet and have it melt on top.
So the clay didn't break luckily and now I'm starting the hollowing out process. So far so good

It's finished and I'm super super happy with the finished product. I used water color to paint it and love the blue green color I managed to make

Plaster reduction

So originally this was suppose to be two moons but it wasn't turning out the way I wanted it to so I changed it up for it to be to snake heads.
This is the beginning of the reduction just carved down
I finally finished the detail but decided not to paint it.

Slab vessel

So I didn't make a plan when doing this because I finished the last one late but I decided to do a pig. I wasn't particularly good with taking photos of him kinda cause I forgot but I'll make up for it in the future. But once he was fully painted I went over with a varnish and made him kinda shinny

He looks a little scary with its Beaty blue eyes but I'm content

Coil

So originally  idea was to make my genadmother an espresso cup because she loves espresso but I couldn't get it to the right size so I decided to do something else

My sister loves Mt. St. Helens because she climbed it this past summer so I decided to do something that themed.

Here my finished product all varnished and painted.
